Sociologist Lawrence Mead says,  "If poor people behaved rationally, they would seldom be poor for long in the first place."

 I agree and  disagree at the same time with Lawrence Mead. I agree c Lawrence because sometimes people rather make a bad choice knowing that this decision is not right. For example, a young kid sometimes would rather join a gang or cut off class instead of join a sport or stay in school.  people make poor choices all the time . Another example, what is a 14yrs old girl doing  with a child of her own????. Shouldn't she be going to high school or going out to the mall or to the movies with her friends, she should be thinking about homework not about having unprotected sex at that age.  This are the choices that will affect our existence for the rest of our lives, not necessarily people that make bad choices at some point of their lives will always be poor but you will have to work much harder than those who made the right choices.

And I disagree with Lawrence because sometimes people try to do the right thing and  it seem like the right thing is not the right thing to do. Some people don't have the opportunity in life to go school, maybe not by choice but because they come from a poor family and they have to get a job in their early years to help their.
 parents. For example, we saw the story about Tammy, she was a mother of four that lived in a trailer and was walking 10 miles everyday to go to her job at burger king.  Tammy was trying very hard to make the right choices but because she was poor growing up and didn't get the chance to get an education she was struggling to survive.
 I do believe life is all about making choices positives or negative that will always depend on the individual .
 Another example was Dana Felty, she was raised in Kentucky and made the choice of going away for college where she got  a journalist degree and moved to Washington  where she got a good job.
  We also saw THE WASP this individual believe that rich people are better than the lower class people or poor people.  Wasp believe that they are smarter, they eat better, they talk better, they wear their hair better, they do not want anyone around who doesn't belong to their same class, they don't mix with anyone if they believe they are inferior to them.
this is an example of how poor people live compare to the rich people in our society. How close we are one to another but how different is our life.

 I think the movie was a wake up call for me and it was a little upsetting to think that just because you poor and you don't have money you never gonna be able to move on in life and that your kids are dammed to be poor all their lives. Another example was the kids in school, if you have money you have a better chance to graduate from high school and go to college. And if you don't have money you have not chance , according to the movie.

  It is so sad to realized how important money can be in this society, and how people are judge for how much money they have in their bank accounts , not for who they are.
  What have we become???? Monsters I say at some point. No one cares any more about the inside but the outside, no one cares about feelings, everyone is so selfish and self center , that at some point I think we lost our humanity and the ability to care for others that don't have what we have.
